The 12 fraternities on the campus of California State University, Sacramento, say no alcoholic beverages will be served this fall during the two-week “rush” period. The Interfraternity Council said it will monitor the ban, which is based on an urge to focus attention on the benefits of fraternity life. Penalties for violating the ban will include fines of up to $1,000, the loss of campus rushing privileges, and community service work.
