Shots Break Window on Tractor-Trailer
Bullets shattered a window on a tractor-trailer rig on California 58 near Tehachapi on Sunday afternoon, slightly injuring the driver in the latest incident of California roadway violence, authorities said.
Two bullets, apparently fired from a passing pickup truck, shattered the driver’s side window on the big rig, showering driver David Grooms of Alabama with pieces of glass, Kern County sheriff’s deputies said.
Grooms suffered minor cuts on his face and arms when the bullets struck, but he did not require hospitalization.
“He didn’t actually see anyone shoot at him, but the pickup was passing at the same time and we retrieved a bullet fragment from the truck cab,” Deputy Frank Sorrano said.
