Glendora : Auto Center Plan Approved
The City Council has approved development of an automobile center next to the Foothill Freeway, including the purchase of a 14-acre site.
City Manager James Evans said the Redevelopment Agency began the project three years ago with the purchase of agricultural land on Allen Avenue near Lone Hill Avenue. The city began negotiations for the purchase of the additional 14 acres belonging to Johnston Pump Co. two years ago, and has since signed lease agreements with four auto dealers.
Evans said the city has invested about $8.8 million in redevelopment funds in the auto center, which is expected to generate about $2 million in annual sales and property taxes. Construction is expected to begin this fall.
