Ciao Ciao Bambina Has Fastest Time in Field for Governor’s Cup Futurity

Ciao Ciao Bambina, a maiden going into last week’s trials, ran the fastest qualifying time and now looms as a major factor in the $150,000 Governor’s Cup Futurity for quarter horses today at Hollywood Park.

The gray 2-year-old filly had a third, a sixth and a second in three starts at Los Alamitos before she ran 350 yards in 17.72 seconds in the trials. James Lackey will again ride Ciao Ciao Bambina in the Futurity, which is also a 350-yard race.

Five of the 10 qualifiers--El Fasto, Azures Cash, Orvillette, Bedinette and Missian--came out of the same trial, with El Fasto’s 17.84 winning that race.

Starting next week, Hollywood Park’s first-race post time will be changed from 4 to 7 p.m. for racing on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. Post time Saturdays and Sundays will remain 1:30.
