In an effort to find those responsible for the rash of animal poisonings in the Beverly Acres area near Whittier, the Humane Society of the United States is offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and felony conviction, according to Charlene Drennon, director of the society’s West Coast office in Sacramento. More than a dozen cats, dogs and, most recently, a horse have been poisoned, and dozens of other pets have become ill, according to area residents. Those in the unincorporated neighborhood near Rose Hills Memorial Park said they have repeatedly found poison-laced meatballs in their yards.
