A 74-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the fatal stabbing of his companion, 67-year-old Amalia Redondo, Chula Vista police said.
Teodorica Tadina was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at a mobile home park in the 1100 block of Industrial Boulevard in Chula Vista, said police spokeswoman Diana Drummey. He is being held at County Jail downtown San Diego.
Tadina was wounded in the Aug. 13 incident in which he and Redondo were found stabbed in a bedroom in a house on the 200 block of Sandstone Street.
"At the time, Tadina was not considered a prime suspect," Drummey said.
Since then, however, police have come to suspect that Tadina stabbed Redondo and himself, Drummey said.
