Soup Kitchen Construction

Construction is expected to begin early in November on a new facility for Union Station, a soup kitchen that has outgrown its site at Euclid Avenue and Walnut Street.

Bill Doulos, director of the agency, which is sponsored by several Pasadena churches, said the city’s allocation of $275,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds is due to be turned over to Union Station about Nov. 1, when bids for construction will have been received.

A State Court of Appeal decision in April cleared the way for the new facility after Union Station went through two years of legal battles in its effort to move to the new site at 412 Raymond Ave.
