A Chatsworth woman and her 8-year-old daughter were thrown into Lake Havasu and are presumed dead after a boat collision involving a Sherman Oaks man, Mohave County, Ariz., sheriff’s deputies said Wednesday.

Sheriffs’ divers were to continue searching today for Diane Bloch, 42, and her daughter, Laura.

The woman’s husband, Michael Bloch, 38, was in critical condition at a Lake Havasu City, Ariz., hospital, with a broken back, crushed pelvis and broken left ankle, sheriff’s deputies said.

The accident occurred about 6 p.m. Tuesday when a speedboat operated by John A. Brubaker, 18, of Sherman Oaks, hit the right side of the Blochs’ 20-foot boat in the marina area of the lake on the California-Arizona border.

The Blochs were thrown into the water, but Michael Bloch was pulled into a passing boat, deputies said.

Brubaker was not hurt. His passenger, Dorenna Dick, 18, of Fallbrook, was in critical condition at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla with a broken left wrist and broken collarbone, hospital authorities said.
