Man Killed by Car on I-805 in Otay Mesa
A pedestrian believed to be an undocumented immigrant was killed early Saturday when he attempted to cross Interstate 805 in the Otay Mesa area, authorities said.
The man, whose identity was unknown but who was thought to be in his 40s, was struck shortly after midnight as he crossed the southbound lanes beneath the Palm Avenue overpass.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident reported the matter to police, who found the body, authorities said.
The San Diego County coroner’s office was attempting to identify the victim.
Throughout the border area, illegal aliens are often struck by cars as they try to cross area highways.
