The Big Ten has asked a court...
The Big Ten has asked a court to order agents Norby Walters and Lloyd Bloom to identify any conference players who signed with them while they still had college eligibility.
Signing college athletes to professional sports contracts is a violation of NCAA rules, and a grand jury in Chicago probing the activities of the two New York-based agents is said to be considering whether such practices constitute fraud against the universities involved.
Walters and Bloom, who have acknowledged signing players with college eligibility remaining but contend they have broken no laws, are the only defendants named in the lawsuit.
The league’s 10 universities are listed as plaintiffs.
Walters and Bloom contend that all the Big Ten athletes they signed already are known to the public.
