Beverly Hills : Charter for Greystone Panel

Share

The city attorney’s office is expected Tuesday to issue an updated statement of purpose for the Greystone Foundation, the committee looking for ways to use the city-owned Greystone mansion.

The report is not expected to deviate substantially from the foundation’s original statement of purpose and will thus clear the way for the return to the committee of former chairman Frederick M. Nicholas.

Nicholas resigned last month after two City Council members suggested giving city officials more control over the process of selecting a tenant for the 55-room mansion. He has demanded a reaffirmation of the foundation’s independence as a condition for returning to his post, which he had held since the panel’s founding in 1984.
