Costa Mesa : Power Outage Affects 3,150 Edison Customers
A 12,000-volt distribution circuit failed early Thursday morning, knocking out power for one hour to 3,150 customers in the College Park area, a utility spokesman said.
The 2:27 a.m. blackout covered an area north of Adams Avenue, south of Victoria Place, east of Fairview Road and west of Placentia Avenue, according to Gene Carter, spokesman for Southern California Edison Co.
Power for about 100 customers near Harbor Boulevard and Fair Drive was not restored until 9:19 a.m., Carter said.
Fairview Developmental Center, a residential facility housing 1,100 developmentally disabled clients, relied on an emergency generator during the one-hour blackout, Executive Secretary Chris Spencer said.
Police Lt. David Brooks said that no emergencies were reported because of the blackout but that several traffic signals went down and some officers had to direct traffic.
Carter said repair crews were investigating the cause.
