Hot-Air Balloonists to Try Again Today
Promoters said they will try again today to lift off 60 hot-air balloons into the air over Carmel Mountain in the second day of a two-day festival said to be the largest collection of hot-air balloonists in the county.
Coordinator Hans Petermann said poor weather conditions on Saturday prevented the scheduled early-morning liftoff, but abbreviated activities were held in the afternoon.
Admission to the event, on Carmel Mountain Road east of Interstate 15, is free, but parking is $3 per car, with proceeds going to the Visiting Nurse Assn. of San Diego County.
