La Jolla
Health officials posted warning signs along 100 yards of La Jolla shoreline after sewage began flowing into the ocean late Monday morning, a county health spokesman said.
The sewage spill occurred after equipment failed at Pump Station 42 on the 5300 block of Calumet Avenue, said county health spokesman Lyn Wallis. The sewage was flowing at a rate of 20 gallons per minute late Monday afternoon, and city crews were unable to estimate when the equipment would be repaired, Wallis said.
