For the relief of displaced victims and thousands of firefighters battling blazes in Northern California, the Anheuser-Busch Brewery in Fairfield converted its beer-canning line to drinking water for two hours.

The switch was made Friday afternoon in the brewery 40 miles east of San Francisco, producing 21,000 gallons of canned water. The water was delivered to the Red Cross relocation center at Motherlode Fairgrounds in Sonora, near fires that have devastated about 100,000 acres in Tuolumne County. The brewery switched to water at the request of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Red Cross.
