Alysheba worked five furlongs in 59 3/5 seconds at Belmont Park, and trainer Jack Van Berg said he still is uncertain whether the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner will run in the Marlboro Cup at Belmont Park Sept. 20.
“He went real good,” Van Berg said, adding that the colt showed no effects from a recent heel bruise. “I’ve got to see how he comes out of it tomorrow. I won’t know until then, but if it’s muddy for the Marlboro, we’ll go to the Super Derby.”
The Super Derby will be at Louisiana Downs Sept. 26.
