North Korea, still seeking to be a co-host of the 1988 Seoul Olympics, said it was sending a delegation to Panmunjom with an urgent proposal to the South Koreans.

The North’s official Korean Central News Agency, monitored in Tokyo, said that Kim Yu Sun, chairman of the North Korean Olympic Committee, sent a radio message to his South Korean counterpart, Chong Ha Kim, asking the South to receive a letter at the truce village.

Seoul was designated by the International Olympic Committee as host of the 1988 Games, but the North has argued that having both Koreas act as hosts would contribute to their reunification.
