A twin-engine plane feared down with five people aboard on a flight from San Diego to Mammoth Lakes turned up at Oakland International Airport. Civil Air Patrol spokesman Lt. Col. Ed Crankshaw said the pilot changed flight plans without notifying authorities. The last air traffic controllers heard of the plane and its passengers was over the Gorman area when the pilot switched from an instrument flight plan to visual flight rules.
