Placentia : Ex-Coach Sentenced in Child-Porn Case

Share

A former youth football coach was sentenced Monday to 90 days in a community treatment center and ordered to undergo psychological counseling after pleading guilty to one charge of possessing child pornography.

U.S. District Judge William J. Rea also sentenced George F. Milledge, 47, to three years of probation and ordered him to pay a $1,000 fine. The judge, saying he was concerned because Milledge’s wife had operated an unlicensed day-care center in their home, ordered Milledge to stay away from anyone younger than 18 unless a parent or guardian is present.

County officials closed the day-care operation one day after U.S. postal inspectors raided the home in December and seized Milledge’s collection of child pornography. Assistant U.S. Atty. Ralph F. Hirschmann said there was no evidence that the children at the Milledge home had been involved in illegal activities.

Milledge, described by prosecutors as a sales manager for an automotive products firm, was indicted by a federal grand jury in December on three counts of violating federal child pornography laws. He later agreed to plead guilty in Los Angeles federal court to one count.
