Several beer bottles were found in the car of a motorist whose vehicle hit four children playing on a front lawn, backed over them and sped away, San Jose police said. Three of the children were killed as the father of one of the victims watched in horror from his garage, police said. The fourth child was hospitalized with a broken leg and broken collar bone. Jose Santo Bugarin, 26, was arrested after his car slammed into another vehicle a few blocks away, police said. Several beer bottles were found in the car, Police Lt. Ken Hawkes said. “We believe (the driver) was under the influence of some chemical substance,” Hawkes said. “I’m getting damn sick and tired myself of drunk drivers butchering people.” Bugarin, who had $20,000 in outstanding warrants for driving with a suspended license, was booked on three counts of second-degree murder.
