Montes Keeps Title With KO in Second
John Montes of Anaheim defended his California super lightweight title with a second-round knockout of North Hollywood’s Walter Sims at the Spruce Goose in Long Beach Wednesday night.
The fight was stopped 1:09 into the second round. Montes (35-4, 26 knockouts) knocked Sims down three times, twice in the first round, before the bout was stopped. Sims is now 22-5-2 with 15 knockouts.
