Cyclist Killed in Curb Crash Identified as Dana Point Man
The California Highway Patrol Friday identified a motorcyclist who was killed Thursday while trying to pass traffic on the right shoulder of Stonehill Drive in Dana Point as Ronald Odom, 43, of that city.
Odom was riding west on Stonehill Drive about 6:20 p.m. when the shoulder came to an abrupt end west of Selva Road and he struck a raised curb, the CHP said. Odom’s motorcycle bounced off the curb, hit the side of a van and crashed into the curb again.
Odom, thrown from the cycle into a steel pole, suffered a broken neck and was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.
