Police said James Benjamin Sylar, 23, was pronounced dead at UC San Diego Medical Center.
The accident occurred about 11 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the Palm Street pedestrian overpass by Lindbergh Field, police said. The motorcycle flipped over on its side, and Sylar was thrown from the seat.
