Mounted Policeman Dies; Struck by Off-Duty Officer

PHILADELPHIA —
A mounted policeman on a crowd control detail at a Grateful Dead concert was killed when his mount was struck by a pickup truck driven by an off-duty policeman, authorities said.
Officer William McCarthy, 31, was crossing a street near the Spectrum arena Tuesday night when his horse was struck, Police Capt. James Powell said.
No charges were filed pending an investigation.
