A 60-year-old Beverly Hills man pleaded guilty in Salt Lake City federal court to one count of mailing prohibited material containing advertisements of sexual products.

Harold Wilber Anderson admitted mailing an unsolicited advertising brochure Jan. 20 to a Salt Lake City woman. U.S. District Judge David Winder set sentencing for December.

Anderson’s business, “Monique of Hollywood,” sold adult material, such as sexual aids and video cassettes, including one called “Taught to Obey” depicting sadomasochism, U.S. Atty. Brent Ward said.

In exchange for Anderson’s guilty plea Thursday, prosecutors agreed not to prosecute him or employees of his business for violation of obscenity laws.

During questioning by Winder, Anderson said he was prepared to mail the cassette to Utah, in violation of Utah statutes, if an order had been placed. “I’m not familiar with Utah standards,” Anderson said. “It would not be considered obscene in California.”
