Alhambra : Businesses May Get to Stay
A home for the blind, a veterinary clinic and a number of small businesses that the city was planning to relocate to make room for a new Pontiac dealership on Auto Row may be able to stay where they are.
The city planned to put the Pontiac dealership on the south side of Main Street between Poplar Boulevard and Primrose Avenue after its first choice--the Progressive Savings & Loan site across the street--became unavailable. But city officials now say they may be able to purchase the Progressive site after all.
Progressive has told the city that a legal dispute with its landlords that prevented it from turning over the property has been resolved. City Manager Kevin Murphy said he hopes that a final agreement can be reached at a meeting between the city and Progressive on Nov. 4.
