Local News in Brief : Limits Set on Mini Malls

Share

The Beverly Hills City Council unanimously approved a ban on mini-malls on Wilshire Boulevard and in the city’s business triangle--the area bounded by Canon Drive and Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards.

The City Council also voted to restrict the development of mini-malls in other commercial areas of the city, instructing the city Planning Commission to issue permits for such projects only when the site exceeds 18,000 square feet and the commission determines that the mini-mall will not cause traffic problems.

Councilwoman Charlotte Spadero said restrictions are necessary because mini-malls are not in character with the city.
