Top Players Advance in Wheelchair Tennis
Brad Parks of San Clemente, the No. 1-seeded player, defeated Russell Seer of Garden Grove, 6-0, 6-1, Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open wheelchair singles tennis championships at the Racquet Club of Irvine.
Randy Snow of Texas, the No. 2-seeded player, defeated Lance Magin of San Diego, 6-2, 6-3, and Chip Parmelly of Diamond Bar, the No. 3-seeded player, defeated Ron Johnson of Florida, 6-0, 6-2. Larent Giammartine of France, the No. 4-seeded player, defeated Jim Black of Lakewood, 6-0, 2-6, 7-6, to advance also.
Chantal Vandierendonck of Holland, the No. 1-seeded women’s singles player, defeated Jane Sherman of Santa Ana, 6-0, 6-1, to advance to the quarterfinals.
