A 15-minute shoot-out at the front door of a home Saturday night left one man dead and another suspect on the run, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The incident occured in the 40700 block of Daily Road when two Latino men knocked at the front door of a home occupied by Jay Steven Hansen, 36, and James McFarlane, 33.
Hansen opened the door, only to be confronted by the two men, each brandishing a gun, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Charles Curtis.
“He slammed the door shut and both men started shooting,” Curtis said. Hansen got his own weapon and returned fire, Curtis said.
The gun battle lasted 15 minutes and left one of the assailants fatally shot in the chest, Curtis said. The other man ran away.
The identity of the dead man was not known Sunday. Neither Hansen nor McFarland were injured, Curtis said.
An investigation is continuing.
