Former Olympic gold medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson gave birth to a daughter Saturday night in Portland, Maine.
Samuelson and her husband Scott, who live in nearby Freeport, have not announced a name for the 5-pound, 7-ounce child.
Samuelson, who won the women’s marathon in the 1984 Olympics, plans to continue her competitive running with an eye toward the 1988 Olympics.
