The New Zealand leg of Michael Jackson’s concert tour was canceled Thursday because promoters there couldn’t meet demands from Jackson’s tour manager that audiences be seated, a spokesman for a local promoter told Reuters news service. Jackson was scheduled to perform at open-air stadiums in Auckland and Wellington in early December. Auckland authorities wouldn’t permit seating to be erected because it would damage the stadium grounds; subsequently the Wellington date was canceled because, the spokesman said, it didn’t pay to bring Jackson to New Zealand for a single concert.
