Bell : Kitchen Renovation Funded

Share

The City Council has passed a resolution authorizing its Community Redevelopment Agency to use $85,000 in tax increment revenue to renovate the kitchen area of the Bell Community Center, which opened in January. The rest of the tax increment revenue, $665,000 for fiscal 1987-88, will be used to retire some bond debt, City Administrator Byron Woosley said.

Since city revenues are insufficient to handle the cost of the kitchen renovation and no other source of funding was available, the expenditure from tax increment revenue for the commercial stoves, ovens, steam tables and dishwashers is legal, Woosley said. The kitchen will be redesigned to accommodate large groups. Several groups using the center complained that the current kitchen facilities are not sufficient to feed many people, Woosley said.
