VA Outreach Center Now Near Hospital

A counseling center for Vietnam veterans did not immediately post signs that it had moved from a Northridge shopping center to new quarters on the Veterans Administration Hospital grounds in Sepulveda, a VA spokesman said Thursday.

The lease for the building housing the VA-operated Veterans Outreach Counseling Center at the corner of Roscoe Boulevard and Wilbur Avenue expired Oct. 30. The facility closed at that location that day, said Larry Caird, VA spokesman.

Caird said VA employees did not post signs about the move at the old center until Thursday.

The center’s new location is in a two-bedroom house at 16126 Lassen St., Caird said. Although renovation will be going on for the next three months, the center is open for service, he said.

The center, originally opened in Van Nuys in 1981, serves about 500 veterans from Los Angeles, Kern and Ventura counties, he said.

There are 189 VA counseling centers for Vietnam veterans throughout the nation.
