David Robinson, who is committed to the Navy for the next two years, signed his contract with the San Antonio Spurs and will play with the team starting in the 1989-90 season.
The size of the contract has been estimated at between $24 and $30 million for eight years. Club owner Angelo Drossos, at a public ceremony attended by about 500 fans at Hemisfair Arena, said: “It’s the biggest contract in pro sports. There’s no comparison.”
