Local News in Brief : Raiders Resolution

Hopeful that it can avert the Los Angeles Raiders’ move to Irwindale, the Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday urged the Coliseum Commission to “do everything possible” to persuade the professional football team to stay.

The council approved a resolution proposed by Councilwoman Joan Milke Flores, who has suggested that the commission use $19.6 million recently received from the National Football League, in settlement of a damage suit, to make the Coliseum improvements Raiders owner Al Davis asked for last spring as a condition for keeping the team in Los Angeles.
