Local News in Brief : Quartz Hill Man Killed as Auto Overturns
A traffic accident north of Agua Dulce claimed the life of a 24-year-old Quartz Hill man, the California Highway Patrol reported Sunday.
Richard Martinez was killed when his 1974 Volkswagen overturned on a dirt embankment Saturday morning off the northbound Antelope Valley Freeway north of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, said CHP Officer Monty Keifer.
Martinez had veered onto the right shoulder of the freeway and was thrown through the rear window of the car in the resulting crash, Keifer said. The victim was not wearing a seat belt. The accident’s cause had not been determined.
