An East San Diego man died Tuesday night after he was stabbed in the chest in the video room at the Big Store Video Arcade, an adult bookstore and video house on University Avenue, San Diego police reported Wednesday.
Police responded to a call at 10:45 p.m. and found a man lying on the floor of the video-go-round room, police spokeswoman Fern Cooper said. David E. Porter, 36, was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he died just after 11 p.m., a county coroner’s spokesman said.
Witnesses told police that they heard a scuffle inside the room, then saw a man run out the front door of the store, Cooper said.
No further details were available late Wednesday.
“We’ve released all the information we can without hazarding the investigation,” Cooper said. A few people were browsing through the bookstore at midday Wednesday, but no one was in the video-go-round room, where patrons can watch films on coin-operated television sets.
