The National Football League has deprived Steve Largent of a 12-yard reception in the Seattle Seahawks’ loss to the New York Jets Nov. 9 because Largent’s feet hadn’t hit the ground before he lateraled to running back John L. Williams.
The play occurred in the waning minutes of the game, when Dave Krieg passed to Largent, who holds the NFL record with receptions in 146 previous games. He had four other receptions in that game, so the streak wasn’t affected.
