Ample amounts of money will be laid on the line in two events this weekend.

In the first competition of its kind, a $1-million stakes tennis match will air on ABC today at 10 a.m. (7)(3)(42) and Sunday at 3 p.m. (7)(3)(10)(42) from West Palm Beach, Fla.

The round-robin tourney involves John McEnroe, Stefan Edberg, Pat Cash and Ivan Lendl. The two players who build on their initial stakes of $250,000, which they will receive before the tournament begins, will meet Sunday.

On NBC, four of golf’s most familiar names will compete in the Skins Game, with $450,000 in prize money available for Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Arnold Palmer and returning champion Fuzzy Zoeller.

NBC will carry the competition today at 12:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. (4)(36)(39) from the TPC Stadium Golf Course in La Quinta.

In pro football, CBS has made a change in its Sunday schedule. Instead of the New York Giants-Washington Redskins game at 1 p.m. (as listed in TV Times), local viewers will get the Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears at 10 a.m. (2).

NBC’s game on Sunday finds the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers taking the field at 1 p.m. (4)(39).

Today’s top college football match-up pits undefeated Miami against Notre Dame at 12:30 p.m. (2)(8).

For hockey fans, today’s game at the Forum between the Canadian National Team and the U.S. Olympic Team can be seen on tape at 7:30 tonight on Prime Ticket. The cable channel will also cover the Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
