Golden West Wins Regional Title

Barrie Dafforn had 43 assists and 19 digs Tuesday night to lead top-ranked Golden West College to the Southern California regional volleyball championship with a 15-7, 15-7, 15-9 victory over Moorpark at Golden West.

The Rustlers (24-1), who have 13 straight match victories, will be seeded No. 1 in the state championships, scheduled Saturday and Sunday at Cypress College. They will face the No. 4-seeded team from Northern California in the first match Saturday.

Golden West never trailed in the first game Tuesday night, but fell behind, 4-0, in game two. The Rustlers then scored 12 consecutive points to take control.

In the third game, Moorpark (16-6) again took a 4-0 lead, but Golden West scored 10 straight points.
