The California Ballet has announced the addition of veteran dancer Douglas Hevenor to “The Nutcracker” cast in both the scaled-down version slated for the East County Performing Arts Center this weekend and the full-blown San Diego Civic Theatre production of the Christmas classic which opens on Dec. 18.

Hevenor, who has made many appearances in principal roles with the company, will alternate with guest artist Stephen Hook. This return marks Hevenor’s first appearance with the local ballet company since 1983, when he partnered Denise Dabrowski in “Giselle.”
