A 16-year-old Irvine girl was fatally injured Wednesday when she drove a motorscooter into a parked car, police said.

Both the dead girl, who was not identified pending notification of relatives, and June LeFevre, 16, who was riding as a passenger on the Honda Elite scooter, were thrown from it on impact, police said.

The accident occurred at 12:34 p.m. as the girls traveled westbound on Main Street east of Harvard Avenue, Irvine police dispatcher Linda Bianchi said. She said the motorscooter for unknown reasons crossed over the center divider, struck a raised curb and collided with a parked vehicle, throwing both victims from the scooter. Neither of them wore a helmet, Bianchi said.
