Supervisors Approve Draft of Hazardous Waste Plan

Share

The county Board of Supervisors on Tuesday passed a draft of its Hazardous Waste Management Plan, which includes 19 proposed areas across the county to be studied as possible future sites for waste treatment plants.

The draft report, required this month by state law, was forwarded to the state Department of Health Services. Supervisors approved the draft on a 4-0 vote, with Harriett M. Wieder absent.

The preliminary plan will be the basis for public hearings and study throughout the next several months. A final plan is scheduled to be adopted by the supervisors in September.

When completed, the report will be an outline for the county’s plans for disposing of hazardous waste into the next century. It also will be the most detailed analysis so far of the waste produced in the county.
