Cudahy City Manager Gerald M. Caton has tentatively agreed to take the same position in Hermosa Beach, officials in the beach city said.
Caton, 36, first served as Cudahy’s city manager from 1982 to 1985, when he was forced to resign by the City Council because of policy disagreements. But when two of his council opponents were defeated in an election, the new Cudahy City Council rehired him in 1986.
Caton replaces former Hermosa Beach City Manager Gregory T. Meyer, who resigned to become a deputy administrator of the Los Angeles Redevelopment Agency.
