Curious Girl Killed by Stray Shot
An 11-year-old Highland Park girl who went to her bedroom window after hearing a commotion outside was killed by a stray bullet fired by a man during an argument on the street, police said today.
Juventia Uriarte was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound at 10:15 p.m. Monday, about an hour after she was shot at her family’s home in the 200 block of Avenue 54, Sgt. Vernon Dandridge said. Two men on the street were arguing with four other men when one of them began firing, Dandridge said. Police had no suspects in custody.
