Memphis State has suspended basketball players Sylvester Gray and Marvin Alexander for the rest of the 1987-88 season for signing contracts with a sports agent.

The school’s athletic committee endorsed the suspensions recommended by Athletic Director Charles Cavagnaro, who said that the players’ eligibility should be restored during the 1988-89 season, providing that they have made full restitution for the money and extra benefits they received, and that the NCAA approves.
