Music, Dance to Highlight County Show

More than 2,000 musicians, singers and dancers from Southern California will perform during the 28th annual Los Angeles County Christmas Program on Christmas Eve, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

The program is open to the public and will be telecast live on KCET Channel 28, with a stereo simulcast on KUSC-FM (91.5) and KCPB-FM (91.1).

Various celebrity hosts, working two-hour shifts, will provide behind-the-scenes interviews and introduce the performers during the broadcast. The hosts include Patty Ecker, Joseph Benti, Carmen Zapata, Bernie Alan, Patty Andrews, Ed Higashi, Marlo Bendau, Valerie Zavala, Elinor Donahue, Carl Anderson, Glenda Wina and Mario Machado.

A musical fanfare and remarks from Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich will begin the daylong program.

Here is the announced schedule of performances.

9-9:30 a.m.--Brass choir fanfare, welcoming remarks from 5th District Supervisor Antonovich, Christmas music from the Metropolitan Celebration Choir and Orchestra.

9:30-9:45 a.m.-- Compton Boychoir.

9:45-10 a.m.--Whittier Women’s Chorus.

10-10:30 a.m.--Youth Band Council of Southern California.

10:30-10:45 a.m.--St. Marks School Choir and Hand Bell Choir, Downey.

10:45-11 a.m.--South Coast Choral Society.

11 a.m.-noon--Remarks from 2nd District Supervisor Kenneth Hahn; Los Angeles County Youth Symphony Orchestra Council, All County Honor Orchestra.

Noon-12:15 p.m.--Aztec Concert Choir, Mark Keppel High School, Alhambra.

12:15-12:30 p.m.--Le Lycee Francais Choir, Palms.

12:30 p.m.-12:45 p.m.--LTD/Unlimited Dance Co.

12:45-1 p.m.--West Valley Chorus of Sweet Adelines.

1-1:30 p.m.--Remarks from Jessie Mae Beavers, president of the Los Angeles County Music and Performing Arts Commission, followed by AVAZ, Karpatok and Floricanto Dance Theatre.

1:30-1:45 p.m.--Church of Scientology Choir, Hollywood.

1:45-2 p.m.--High Calling Choir, Monrovia.

2-2:45 p.m.--Carson-Dominguiez Hills Symphony with Dominguez Hills University Chorale and El Camino College Evening Mixed Choruses.

2:45-3 p.m.--Torrance Civic Chorale.

3-3:15 p.m.--New Apostolic Church Choir, Temple City.

3:15-3:30 p.m.--Marina del Rey singers.
