With less than two months to go before the Winter Olympics at Calgary, the Canadian Olympic hockey team scored a major victory, defeating Finland, 4-1, to win the Izvestia tournament at Moscow.

It was the first time Canada won the Izvestia gold medal in the 21-year history of the competition.

The Canadians--with their biggest offensive output in the six-team round-robin event--finished with a 4-1 record.
