Pico Rivera : Train Station Bid Dropped

Share

The Pico Rivera City Council has voted to drop out of the competition for an Amtrak intercity train station to be built next year in the Southeast area.

“After reviewing the numbers involved in figuring potential ridership in Pico Rivera and the cost, there didn’t seem to be justification for going forward,” said Assistant City Manager David Caretto. The station would cost about $1 million.

Norwalk and Commerce are still vying for the train station, which would be on Amtrak’s Los Angeles-San Diego corridor. Proposals for the station, including site plans and cost, are to be submitted to the Los Angeles Transportation Commission Jan. 4.
