A 16-year-old Klamath Falls, Ore., boy was shot and killed when he pointed a rifle at California Highway Patrol officers following a traffic stop, a CHP official said. The youth, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was driving a van southbound on Interstate 5 with a teenage girl passenger when he was stopped by officers at about 9 a.m. four miles north of the city of Mount Shasta in Siskiyou County. As an officer tried to negotiate with the youth, who had gotten out of the van carrying a rifle, the suspect pointed the gun at the officer and was shot, authorities said.
